Terms of Service
Last updated 11 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Showpopper (“we”, “us”) for using our website and app, which turn your ideas into short animated videos. By creating an account or using Showpopper you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Showpopper.
1. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. If you use Showpopper for a business, you confirm you may bind that business to these terms. Keep your login secure; you are responsible for what happens in your account.
2. Plans, credits and payment
- Scripts and storyboards are free, with a daily limit on the free plan. Turning a storyboard into a video uses credits; the app shows the cost before you start.
- Paid plans renew every month until you cancel and add their monthly credits on each renewal. Unused credits roll over while your account is active. Credit packs are once-off.
- Payments in rand are processed by PayFast and payments in US dollars by PayPal. We never see or store your full card details.
- Prices include VAT where it applies. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; the new price applies from your next renewal.
- You can cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
3. Refunds
Credits that have been used to make a video can't be refunded, because the AI services behind each video charge us as soon as it is made. If a video fails because of a fault on our side, we return the credits. If you are unhappy with a payment, email hello@showpopper.co.za within 14 days and we will look at it fairly. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
4. Your content and your videos
- You keep the rights to what you put in: your ideas, scripts, pictures, logos, clips and voice recordings.
- As between you and us, you own the videos you make. Paid plans include commercial use. Free-plan videos carry a "Made with" end card and are for personal use.
- You give us permission to store and process your content only to run the service for you: making, saving, showing and posting your videos.
- AI can produce results that look similar to other people's work, and other users may get similar results from similar ideas. Check your video before you publish it, and don't rely on it as the only source of facts or advice.
5. What you may not do
You agree not to use Showpopper to make, upload or post anything that:
- copies or infringes anyone else's copyright, trademark or other rights, including characters, logos, music, footage or brands you don't own or have permission to use;
- shows or imitates a real person, or uses their face or voice, without their permission, or is meant to deceive people into thinking something fake is real;
- sexualises children in any way, or is sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, violent or threatening;
- is defamatory, fraudulent, unlawful, or promotes illegal activity;
- spams people or breaks the rules of the platforms you post to.
You also agree not to attack, overload, copy or resell the service, or get around its limits. We check ideas automatically and may refuse to make a video, remove content, or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
6. Your voice and characters
“My voice” may only be used with your own voice, recorded by you. Saved characters must be your own creations, not real people or characters owned by someone else. You can delete your voice or characters at any time.
7. Posting to social media
When you connect TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or other accounts, you allow us to post the videos you choose, at the times you choose, through our posting partner Upload-Post. Those platforms' own terms apply to what you post there. You can disconnect an account at any time.
8. Copyright complaints
If you believe a video made with Showpopper infringes your rights, email hello@showpopper.co.za with your name and contact details, the work you own, where the infringing video is, and a statement that your complaint is true. We handle these notices as set out in section 77 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and remove infringing content we host.
9. The service
We work to keep Showpopper running well, but it relies on outside AI and hosting services, so we can't promise it will always be available or error free. We may improve, change or stop features; if we close a paid feature you are using, we will tell you in advance and refund unused prepaid amounts fairly.
10. Responsibility
You are responsible for the content you create and post. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or reputational harm, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act. You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim is brought against us because of content you made or posted in breach of these terms.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using Showpopper at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@showpopper.co.za. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
12. Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and South African courts have jurisdiction. Questions? Email hello@showpopper.co.za.
