Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• Account details: your email address and login records.
• Plan and payment records: your plan, credits, and what you bought and when. Card details are entered on PayFast's or PayPal's own pages and never reach us.
• What you make: your ideas, scripts, web links you give us, storyboards, pictures, logos, uploaded clips, and finished videos.
• Your voice, only if you use "My voice": the recording you make is sent to our voice provider to build a copy of your voice. We don't keep the recording ourselves.
• Social accounts you connect for posting, and your posting schedule. We don't receive your social media passwords.
• Basic technical information such as your browser type and error logs, used to keep the service working.

2. Why we use it

• To run your account and make, store and post your videos.
• To take payments, track credits and prevent fraud.
• To check ideas and content for misuse, keeping the service safe and lawful.
• To send emails about your account, such as login links and important changes.
• To fix problems and improve the service.

We process your information because it is needed to provide the service you signed up for, to meet legal duties, for our legitimate interest in running a safe service, or with your consent (for example, your voice). We don't sell your personal information and don't use it for advertising.

3. Your voice

A voice recording can identify you, so we treat it as special personal information. We only use it, with your consent, to speak the videos you make. You can remove your voice at any time on the My voice page, which deletes the voice copy from our voice provider.

4. Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run Showpopper. They may only use your information to provide their service to us:

• Supabase (database, login and file storage) and Vercel (website hosting).
• Inngest (runs the steps that build your video).
• Anthropic (writes scripts and checks content), fal.ai (draws pictures and animates scenes) and ElevenLabs (voices, music and captions).
• Upload-Post (posts videos to the social accounts you connect).
• PayFast and PayPal (payments).
• Our email provider (sends login and account emails).

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.

5. Information sent outside South Africa

Most of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, mainly in the United States and Europe. We only use providers bound by data protection laws or agreements that give your information protection similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account information and videos while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your content and personal information within 30 days, except payment records we must keep for tax and accounting law (usually five years).

7. Keeping it safe

Information is sent over encrypted connections, access is limited to people and systems that need it, and your files are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children

Showpopper is for adults. Children may only use it with a parent or guardian who agrees on their behalf. Please don't upload children's personal information, such as photos or real names, without a parent's consent.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct or delete it;
• stop using it, or withdraw consent you gave (such as for your voice);
• object to how we use it.

Email hello@showpopper.co.za and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
